NCD Launch
23/04/2009

Australian University Sport (AUS) is pleased to announce the launch of the National Communication Database (NCD) at the upcoming AUS National Conference being held in North Sydney from 18-20 May.

The main beneficiaries of the system will be the University Sport Delivery Agents (SDAs) and associated University Sporting Clubs. The system will house a number of standard and custom built tools such as:

- Ability to set up their own nationally integrated website. The pre-defined website will have all of the functionality listed below but also give site administrators the capacity to add, edit and delete web parts, sub-sites and web pages to ensure the site is tailored to the exact needs of each SDA or Club

- Ability to set up team and individual sports in a Calendar or List view with the ability to export the event or entire Events Calendar into Microsoft Outlook. The event registration system allows designated users to create as many sub-events under parent events as required (for individual sports such as Athletics and Swimming)

- A security enabled Knowledge Library where approved users can upload intellectual property for sharing amongst other SDAs and/or clubs. Information and resources collected from all users will be housed in a central library and disseminated to those with certain viewing privileges. Users uploading documents can choose whether the document is viewable by SDAs and/or clubs

- A members area for all users to easily locate sites of all SDA and their clubs

- A Communication and Collaboration area which houses a Global Directory of all AUS and SDA staff phone, email and address details uploaded directly by each SDA and only viewable by users with permission (assigned by each SDA). A discussion Forum area with defined rules on who has access to view and comment within Forums started by different users. For example a Soccer Club can start a forum with their own SDA, other clubs within their SDA and soccer clubs from other SDAs.

- Professional Development which gives designated users the ability to upload information about courses, workshops, conferences and forums. The audience (who can view this information) can also be defined if required. users can view event details and attached documents, register and pay for the course as well.

- A Merchandise facility that allows designated users to upload items for sale and allow users to purchase and pay for goods online.

- Each site will be linked to one PayPal online payment account

- Club sites have functionality where each team can upload player profiles, training schedules, standings within their competition, news items and photo galleries

And this is just scraping the surface......

AUS is very excited to be able to offer this system to all SDAs and Clubs. The system will no doubt enhance the geographically diverse University Sport Sector's ability to communicate and collaborate more and ensure continued and improved efficiency through the use of technology.
